Opening Dappa & Mamie's gifts on Christmas Eve

The kids Colorado grandparents - Dappa & Mamie - gave the kids some really special gifts this year. Note the expressions on their faces. Daisy was particularly taken with her lap desk and art supplies.

December 19th was the day I was scheduled to be induced. But as my mother in law said, "there was no room in the inn." aka No open beds in the hospital. I was really disappointed at first, but God's providence is always best. I got a much better night's sleep and some sweet time with Eric and the kids. When I called the hospital in the morning, they said to come in! I must say that it is strange to walk in to the hospital without having to stop every couple of minutes because of contractions. The nurse started the i.v. at 9:30am and our precious little girl was born at 2:10pm. She was our biggest baby weighing in at 7lb 15oz. Sure am glad she didn't have more time to grow in there! And for the record, her name is Emerie Elle Simmons.

We are enjoying this little one so much, grabbing sleep when we can. The other kids are doing great, thanks to their daddy who is caring for the kids so well, making this time with daddy lots of fun. I must say that this Christmas season has been one of the best ever. God has been so kind to us!
